I live in England, (:

What would your perfect day consist of?

Waking up in the arms of my love, leisurely having an indulgent breakfast, going for a good old run, get my nails done and my hair re-styled, get a light spray tan and spend the rest of the day in Oxford street shopping.

Who is your fashion muse?

Personally I love people around me and their style, my Mum has such great style. Celebrity wise, I like a lot of people's style from Alexa Chung to Pixie Lott. Obviously Audrey Hepburn had a wonderful look, so elegant and classy.

What do you always order from Starbucks?

Hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream- yes i'm a baby. :D

Passions:

Sport, running in particular, fashion, caring for my friends and family, shopping, music, life, biology, bracelets, food, Polyvore, Topshop, Ugly Betty.

What is your favourite quote?

Oo so many, "Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world" by Bette Midler is a great one.

What is your favourite season?

I'm a summer girl through and through, if only England had a better one!

What is on your bedside table?

The New Testament (I just like to read it, i'm not actually "Christian"), a lilac lamp, Look magazine (my other bible!), my phone, polka dot sleeping mask, anti wrinkle cream (yes I know i'm 17) and in the night there's always a glass of water.

What's on your playlist?

My all time favourite song "Waiting" by Green Day, "love the way you lie" by Eminem and Rihanna, "Fake tales of San Fransisco" by Arctic Monkeys, i'm pretty eclectic in my music taste- from Pixie Lott, to Pink to 30H!3 to Tinie Tempah. It's all good.

What's always in your bag?

My aviators, my phone, wallet/purse, a little bit of make up (lipgloss, pressed powder, mascara, bronzer), mini hairbrush and mirror. My life saviours!

It seems there are lots of structured lady-like handbags available for the autumn on the high street. It seems they've taken inspiration from the catwalk. For instance, Marni heaviliy featured short structured straps that are hand held.

I just adore that Marni handbag, ah well, a girl can dream right?

Loving Beyonce's new song, definitely got some truth in those killer lyrics. What's even more killer though is her style for the video.

Transforming into a fifties pin up girl, she looks great. I love the fifties feminine clothing and this has definitely inspired me to make some more additions to my wardrobe!

Loving those beautiful cat eye sunglasses from Ray Ban at Asos, of course i'll probably just waltz over to Topshop to buy some less expensive versions, but I am lusting after a pair of Ray Ban's.

I got these babies from Primark the other day for £8! I was wearing them in my post on the 29th of August. They're beautiful, suede effect brogues with wonderful detailing, I think they're bang on trend and i'll be rocking them with skinnies, dresses and skirts. They're set to be the next ballerina pump!

Today I went for a smart casual look, i'm wearing a jersey jacket that ruffles below the waist to create some much needed curves, horizontal stripes again to widen out my hips, cigarette skinnies and suede effect brogues, accessorising with pearls!

The pearl necklace is real, and was given to me by my lovely Mum- whereas my bracelet is unfortunately made of faux pearl effect beads I think the shades match well with the necklace so I wore it too.

Classics Capsule Wardrobe!

Timeless classics, well they're the items that you invest in. They'll be in your wardrobe for years- saving every possible fashion disaster.

They are not plain or boring, they're quite remarkable. Special enough to barely have changed through the seasons.

1. The little black dress by Piazza Sempione £319 at Harrods

of course there are replications on the high street, but I just adore this bag so wanted to include it in the post! I chose a colour that will not date, other colours include nude or brown.

3. Denim slim skinny jeans- Dorothy Perkins £15

Find your perfect fit and you'll love them forever. Dress them up with heels and a sparkly top, or down with a tee shirt and flats.

4. Classic white shirt- Next £28

5. Flats- Miss Selfridge £15

Classic ballerina bow in a pretty nude, because sometimes heels just aren't practical!

6. Trenchcoat- Topshop £80

Stylish and functional, used in the world war to keep warm in the trenches the style has barely changed today.

7. Heels- Miss Selfridge £40

Everybody should have at least one mid length classically coloured heel that will rescue you in almost any fashion related, and maybe even some non fashion related situations!

As you can see, a little capsule wardrobe has been created. Everything there can be worn with each other- add a few accessories and you can constantly change your look.

So leather shorts are definitely going to be around this autumn and winter- I have to get a pair, and i'm thinking of getting the ones above.

You can team them with clog-boots, opaque tights and a simple vest top like i've done.

Or maybe even add a faux fur gilet for those chilly winter months.

V&A Museum Visit

I visited the Victoria and Albert museum yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it, if you haven't been i'd advise it with all my heart! I have photos as promised :)

I apologise in advance for some messy alignment and grainy photos- flash photography was not permitted i'm afraid.

These beautiful shoes were made by Roger Vivier for Christian Dior in the late 1950's. They are pink satin with embroidery using beads, silk and metal threading. I didn't take the photo, I bought a postcard from the store. :)

These are works of art! Platform heel with sequins that wouldn't look out of place on the red carpet today.

These boots were beautiful, made from the softest Italian leather it amazes me at the quality of material that was used in such early times.

Clothing:

I wanted to focus on the blue and white dress on the left, made by Horrockses in 1957. You can totally see the resemblance to the dress Dita is wearing, I know that she loves that era, and it's just amazing how much inspiration designers today take from the past.

The pantsuit on the left was made by Biba in 1970, the blazer would not look out of place today with it's bold floral print. It shares similarity with the blazer on the right from Asos.

Princess Diana commissioned Cat Walker to design her a dress to wear in Hong Kong, in 1989. It's a beautiful dress and jacket, with such intricate beading. The fit is so slimline and flattering.

Jewels

Unfortunately in the designated jewel section photography was not permitted, however, in the other parts of the museum some beautiful pieces were laid out.

Cameo brooches like you could find in stores today, I especially loved number 70!

Beautiful gold wedding rings, encrusted with precious stones.

1.) What's a perfect styling for you?

I like girly mixed with edgy. So like maybe a pretty sweater with pearls or florals with biker boots or a leather jacket.

2.) For what do you spent the most of your money?

Clothes, shoes and handbags of course! When I get money I have to go out and go wild! I actually love H&M because of their reasonable prices and great style. I love Zara, Topshop and Miss Selfridge. I wish there were more decent charity shops where I live because currently I travel up to London to have a rummage!

3.) What's your favourite song at this moment now?

Well I think I have a good sense of style- hence the blog. Also I believe I write well, and have an appreciation for beautiful things in fashion but also in other passions. 5.) And what are your failings?

I get so stressed. I’m always stressed. It’s not fun really, because it takes away the fun out of the things I do. I wish I could relax a bit more but I guess it’s just not me.

Firstly, let me start my apology for not posting in so long. School has been so busy, personal issues and etc.

So this post is going to be quite long, as I went on a city break to Birmingham- i've never been there before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Obviously I had to travel light- something I wasn't sure I could do, but I managed it!

The first day out on Saturday I wore the outfit above,

Tribal Times

Today I dug out an old sorong I bought in a French market whilst on holiday a few years ago. I will definitely be sporting this on the beach, because it is definitely tribal down to a T, and unique to most.

I will team it with a plain white vest, gladiator sandals, stacked beaded and wooden bangles and a long necklace- not forgetting the oversized sunglasses.

I simply adore the tribal inspired jewels from Asos!

It's chic-o-nomics!

I just love the scallopped skirt in the oh so trendy cream colour, then again I adore the kitsch floral heart shaped watch, straw cross over bag and, well, everything. Pastels are so on trend and I love them. Well, it's my birthday soon- hopefully I can get at least some of these wonderful things!

Belt Me In

I adore belts. It has to be said that they can totally transform an outfit, from cinching in a waist to excentuate it's enviable size (hopefully!) To concealing a seam, to adding a pop of colour.

I think there are definitely the basics you must own, a thick and a thin and in a range of neutral colours- black, brown, cream and white.

Belts are functional- keeping your jeans up and your underwear hidden! However, they are also beautiful, looking chic over a cardigan, a dress covering a seam or a skirt/top combination doing the same thing and adding a new level of style to your attire.

Then there are the belts that are in a range of their own, the coloured ones that add an element to your daily ensemble that makes the outfit- the belt that acts as an accessory.

A belt with a lovely print, or a show stopping buckle is key to making your outfit look different from somebody else.

Bow belts are cute and can be edged up with biker jackets, or emphasised with cute floral prints or corsages.

Animal Print, Airshows and Glittery Cupcakes

Well it was my sister's today, so of course we made a day of it! She's happy with her presents, phew! We went to the airshow for a little while, but it was such a murky day.

Silly me, I deleted the photo of my entire outfit and my phone is charging, so you'll just have to see the separates- my apologies!

Just look at these cute little cupcakes we made, I iced one of the pink ones- and I must say I think I did a good job, they are so pretty with the glitter on top.

Now, these patent heels are from Dorothy Perkins- they are quite high, but hey, no pain no gain!

My hair piece is just a headband from Primark that cost £1.50 in a pack and a corsage from H&M clipped on which cost £1.99 in a pack of two. I adore the little floral accessories!

I wore a big silver ring from Wallis, I think it was £6.00, and my nail varnish is Barry M- a lovely on trend pastel mint green colour, good on short square/oval nails.

My necklace is a silver chain from Warren James and a Pandora bead, I like it because it reminds me of Zebra print, and so is a good way of incorporating the tribal trend into an outfit.

My beautiful bracelet is from Accessorize, I adore it- the aqua beads, the silver against the red ruby like beads. Just so beautiful, I think this was £12.00

My printed top is from H&M, I like this print because I wasn't brave enough to buy real leopard print- so I opted for this subtle one, it's actually black spots on light blue. I wore this with a leather motorcross jacket and black leggings.

Sports Luxe

So these beauties are from Topshop, they absolutely amazing. I can't rave about them enough to be honest. The suedette black is luxury, versatile and looks lovely in contrast to the matte heel. They are comfortable but still leg lengthening, and can be worn with skirts, shorts, playsuits and minidresses to add a sporty twist to any outfit. They are great with utility-esque shorts as well!

I hope that everybody is having a lovely summer and soaking up the sun! I am certainly making the most out of the little glimmers of summer England occassionally has, I am slowly acquiring a sunkissed glow- not as fast as I would ideally like though!

The Little Black Book of Style

This is easily my favourite book. It is written by Nina Garcia, and it is a humorous guide of fashion, trends, finding your inner style and what style is. It features key points of fashion in history, women in history, and etc.

Look at the beautiful illustrations, and there are some amazingly thought provoking quotes in there too:

It's a truly wonderful book and I recommend it with all my heart if you haven't yet read it! Have you read this book? If so, what did you think?

Monochrome Me

I wore a wonderful outfit yesterday, I love the dress so much!

I didn't want to look too secretarial though, so I added lace tights to spice things up a bit ;)

And my beautiful little monochromatic flats with a cute little bow on them.

I wore my pearly fluffy cardigan as well, but I don't have a photo of me with it on- because i'm silly like that.

Floral Fever

I've got some nice floral skirts. I have been wearing them more recently now the sun seems to be making more regular appearances in old blighty- (England).

I love my Hawaiin floral lampshade skirt from H&M on the far left.
Equally, I am fond of my bold floral skirt from Next on the far bottom right, this was actually my Mother's, who recently passed it down to me. Oh how I love having a Mum of the same size as me.
Finally, I love my tiered ruffle skirt from New Look with it's delicate ditzy floral print, I find it can be worn in the Autumnal and Winter seasons with thicker wooly tights.

They add a little twist of girliness, that can be toughened up with a biker or motorcross jacket, or even biker boots. Or you can play up to the girliness and pair with cute ballerina flats and a corsage in your hair! I love the versatility of a floral skirt.

Khaftan Days

The other day I posted this instead of saving as a draft, and posted again right after, so I sorted it out. :D

So I wore a red and white patterned khaftan the other day, with a white vest top under to get myself in the summery mood! Paired with black jeggings and my trusty black patent flats with gold detail. Not forgetting a pretty little gold necklace.

So yeah, a H&M and Primark field day to be honest. Not a very diverse outfit, but hey- what's the big deal? I like it.

You know, i'm really wanting to find a nice haulterneck bandeau bikini though for this Summer.

Excuse the over exposed photo of moi and focus on the hair. I finally, FINALLY, got it cut. It seemed like a lifetime, but it was actually only four weeks. Whatever. So it's kind of like a Pixie Geldoff crop, but with a side fringe instead of a full fringe. I just use V05 texturising gum after blow drying and BAM.

Utility Chic

Okay so I finally got a long shirt. In khaki for that utility look that everyone's banging on about at the moment, "big this season!"

I absolutely adore it. SO comfortable, and so easy to wear. Over a vest with jeggings, tucked into trousers with a belt to break it up, done up with leggings underneath...the possibilities are almost endless!

I wore mine with a lovely little vest top, cute print I think.
And some summery flip flops, oh, well I can dream can't I?

I finally purchased a pair of harem pants. I had been debating for a long time as to whether to buy a pair or not and succumbed on Friday afternoon. It was a debate though, truly, I mean- What material? What length? How ballooning should the pants be? How slouchy?

I bought a black jersey pair. From, guess! H+M.

I swear that around 80% of my wardrobe must consist of H+M.

But anywho...

What to wear them with?

I'm thinking gladiator sandals- flat and heeled.

Reminiscing Prom Memories!

I was looking back at prom photo's today, and I didn't have a blog back in July- so i'll make up for lost time now.

I loved the prom, it was an amazing event at our school. My old school, although a state one was quite "rich", so the venue was appropriately pretty, at a leisure centre, we had hired the restaurant/bar/balcony. The bar was obviously off limits, much to some people's disapproval. Haha!

Anyway, the dresses. The dresses, were all suitable for a prom and seemed to follow suit- frothy, taffeta, princess. I couldn't wear a long, big one because it would swamp my petite frame. My mother didn't want me to go down the whole "bridal", "samey" route either. At the time I was a little nervous that I was going to be "too different" but looking back, i'm glad I wore what I did.

I went for a classic little black dress, with black tights and black patent heels, an oversized black patent clutch. To add bursts of colour I accessorized with a turquoise pashmina, oversized cream corsage, silver necklace, silver/turquoise/ruby bracelet and a silver oversized ring.

I can't wait until the next prom, i'll have to out-do myself!

Tube Skirts Liiiike.

It's been a while guys. My bad.

I just haven't had a lot of inspiration or updates.

I do have one today however.

It's getting a bit brighter outside, so I thought I would don a skirt. A jersey tube skirt! I love little mini skirts, I bought a lovely indigo one and a black one from H&M. £7.99 each, woo-hoo!

Ignore the legs, skim straight down to the shoes.

Beauties. I got them from Primark, patent black with gold knot detail. I think they were around £10. They're timeless I think, they'll never look out of date.

Shopping Trip!

Look at this skirt. It is amazing. I found it today in H+M, for HALF PRICE. £7.00. SEVEN! I have seen it before, in grey- at fifteen pounds, so I was ecstatic when I got it down today.

I also found a few tee shirts and some PJ's, you know. However, the skirt was the highlight.

The purple colour is beautiful and I love the material is based on. The pockets on the skirt at a slant are edgy as well.

It's a Big One

I haven't posted in a few days, due to- life, so i'm making up for it.

Well it's been slightly chilly in England lately, it actually snowed again yesterday so i've had to adapt my daily outfits a little!

I absolutely adore my leather biker jacket, but I added a dogtooth scarf. I think it transforms the outfit instantly. Although it's monochrome it has a certain impact. I just love the pattern, it's chic and stylish.

I was reading Look magazine, as always, and I flicked back at last week's issue to Jenifer Aniston's simplistic but amazingly stylish ensemble:
I just love it. The layers, the textures, the simplicity of the look. LA chic. I will try and recreate this outfit I think. Well hey, I already have the jacket! Seriously, if I just buy a couple of necklaces in different lengths, perhaps a cameo one, and some aviators, and one of those draping cardigans...i'd be set!

And, rest in peace Alexander McQueen. You were amazingly talented.

Outfit I Wore Today

So today I wore a ditzy floral ruffle skirt, with a plain tee, jacket, thick wool black tights and biker boots to toughen the look up a bit. Accessorised with a bead bracelet, ring and silver necklace.

I am so glad it's friday.

Had a bit of a shitty Thursday, and it's time for a fresh start.

Hoodies for the Win

Don't judge! It's cold outside!
I just did not want to get up this morning, it was cold in my bedroom, cold in the shower and inevitably cold outside.
So I threw on the hoodie I bought about a month ago, pulled on some skinnies with some boots and i'm good to go.
It's so comfortable, and doesn't look like a frumpy, tomboy mess as most hoodies used to, or were percieved to.
It isn't actually a sports hoodie, which may be why, it's actually from Primark.
The fashion stores are jumping on the bandwagon with comfortable hoodies that actually look good, so why not?

Music is the Core

Today in general RE we had to bring in our favourite song, and explain why it was our favourite. After debating in my mind, I decided on "Wonderwall" by Oasis because I grew up listening to them because of my Dad. I was thinking about The Verve, The Jam, Coldplay, etc. but I doubt a lot of people at my school know of the first two bands, and I cry when listening to "The Scientist" by Coldplay, so...no. I thought about Michael Jackson, as my Dad even has his vinyls- but that may have appeared a tad cliched.

It's funny how we associate such raw emotion with songs, how the biggest moments of our lives are entwined with the chords of a guitar and such. A girl was sobbing when she played her song, because of a memory she associated with it. Music really does unite and provoke emotion, inspiration, etc.

It heavilly influences fashion as well, from punk music with Vivienne Westwood- even down to the literal sense with necklaces sporting musical note pendants.

My friend made her own necklace from a chain she bought from a jewellers and a guitar pick. She drilled a hole through the plectrum and voilla! I wish i'd thought of doing something like that...

Like music, fashion is an art form that expresses emotion. It is not just throwing on whatever fits, and we can make anything extraordinairy by connecting with it.

How I Love to Shop

Okay so I went shopping today, I needed some retail therapy. I had been revising chemistry ALL morning- ALL morning people!

Anyway

I went to Dorothy Perkins and bought some beautiful heels. I contemplated buying some heels from Matalan as they have a sale on, I could have bought like six pairs of heels from Matalan for the price of the one pair of heels I got, but, the size of the heel on these shoes are perfect for me. Though I was in awe that Matalan's sale includes FIERCE fashionista heels for as little as £4 or £5! Not a typo! It's amazing!

They are absolutely amazing, and so versatile as well. You know what is just as good as shopping though? Finding something new in your wardrobe that you forgot you bought! I found a lovely skirt that I bought from H&M, as you can see above. It's so flattering for my shape, and the print is so pretty. I can't wait to wear it as it starts to get a little warmer outside.

I hate sunday nights, because I can't lie in...I have school tomorrow. :/

I guess I have to think about what i'm going to wear...what a hardship ;)

Clothing en Masse ;D

Well yesterday I had mass at school. You see I go to a Catholic sixth form now, and we had a centenary mass. My first mass ever! Another milestone ticked off the list :D

I wore a blazer, grey tee, black treggings tucked into black boots with a couple of accessories. Obviously jeans weren't permitted when being blessed by a Priest ;), but then I also wanted to wear clothing that was casual enough for a day at school. I think I got the best of both worlds?

Anway, I am so happy it is finally the weekend. I have completed every scrap of homework, leaving me free to...revise for chemistry. Oh joy.

My Day (Collage included!)

Well today, I got up and decided that it would be a good day. I woke up happy, and put on some pretty clothes- that always makes me feel better. I just love the cardigan I wore today, a fluffy, pale blue number with pearls stitched all over it. £30 from H&M- incredible!

School was okay today, I had free periods in the morning so I blitzed through my homework. In the afternoon I had double PE which is always good J

I went shopping after school, and bought a cool tee from H&M

I got in, tended to my trifle (See previous post ;D) and tried on my sequin skirt with an oversized blazer from Miss Selfridge, black tights, black patent heels and the tee shirt I bought.

It's been a good day, I'm off to revise now folksiesss. I'm thinking about setting up my blog with my phone via MMS…will do it next time I get credit ;)

I cooked!

Last night I cooked chicken paella,

It went well!
I finely chopped an onion and chopped four tomatoes, crushed a clove of garlic, weighed out my rice and peas.

Then I browned nine chicken drumsticks in a paella dish, adding onion, garlic and turmeric.

I then added a chicken stock gravy, rice and tomatoes.

I baked this mixture for fifteen minutes, took it out and added red pepper, black ground pepper and peas.

Then I returned to the oven for fifteen minutes, until the rice absorbed the stock.

It was that easy!

And totally delicious, and I MADE IT! I DID IT! WITHOUT BURNING DOWN MY KITCHEN! OH EM GEEEEEE!
